“We started the rehersals back around Easter, and there was a lot of interest, as it’s a show a lot of the kids can really relate to and everyone knows some of the songs.
“We thought putting it on now was a good idea, as it’s quite a quiet period and there’s not anything like exams or prelims coming up that this would distract them from.
“Everyone has worked hard, we’ve had those performing onstage but also everyone backstage, from making props and getting everything ready.”
And the show proved so popular that some former pupils even returned to the school to play their part in it.
Kevin added: “We had some pupils who took part last Easter but were in sixth year at the time.
“They’ve now left the school but were able to come back to take part in the show.
“It’s not often you get them coming back so quickly!
“There were a few things to work out as we went along, like the design of the stage, but it was fine apart from that.”
Originally written for the stage, Grease was a huge box office hit when a film version opened in 1978, starring John Travolta and Oliva Newton John.
The soundtrack was the second biggest selling record of the year, while songs like Summer Nights and You’re The One That I Want were successful in the pop charts.
