Festive spirit alive at Hallside

The spirit of Christmas was well and truly alive at Hallside Primary School.

Pupils, staff and parents were filled with joys of the festive season as the school staged its annual Christmas concerts. Four performances were held over four days with a cast of 491!

Staff member Robert Bamford, had written a show called The Spirit of Christmas, which was performed superbly by the school drama club.

The story was narrated brilliantly by Lauren McKee and Lauren Stewart, with Blair Sutherland playing the part of Edward Grumper, a man who had lost his love of Christmas. He was taken on a journey by Clara Yule (played by Mairi Grant) who introduced him to lots of characters (played by Kara Dakin, Martin Laing, Kirstin Gannon, Adrienne McBride, Adam Patton, Clair White, Jenna Morrison, Ross Elder and Holly Sutherland) who showed him all the different aspects to the joy of Christmas.

Each class then sang a song to illustrate each of these aspects of Christmas, including We Wish You a Merry Christmas, All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth, Do They Know It’s Christmas, Here Comes Santa Claus, Happy Christmas (War is Over), Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, White Christmas, Heroes, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Oh Holy Night.

The drama club also sang Imagine, Someone Like You and Hallelujah.

The 800 strong audience members thoroughly enjoyed their experience.

Robert Bamford, acting depute head, said: “I have to thank all the pupils and teachers for their hard work. It really paid off and I am so proud of every one of them.”
