Fair Traders set for another fundraiser

A CHRISTMAS gift event is being run by the award-winning Stonelaw High Fair Traders next week.

The 2011 winners of the UK Young Persons’ Social Enterprise of the Year are holding their annual Christmas gift event in the school library on Thursday, November 1, from 3.30-8pm.

Since being launched in November 2003, their sales have exceeded £140,000, and all profits are used to educate Aids orphans in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.

A spokesman for the Fair Traders said: “We sell lots of quality fairly traded items which we source from over 20 suppliers and sell at competitive prices. All of our profits support the education of Aids orphans in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

“In past years, sales at our Christmas Gift Event have reached £4000 in four hours!

“We shall also have a stall in the Christmas Craft Fair in the Town Hall on 24 November.

“We currently support the education of over 300 vulnerable children.”

For workers in developing countries, Fair Trade means fair prices and fair wages, and no child exploitation or forced labour.
