Woman's rings stolen at hospital

A wedding ring and an eternity ring with a combined value of £10,000 have been stolen from a woman at a hospital. The owner is said to be devastated by the theft of the two platinum and diamond bands within Edinburgh's Western General Hospital. The incident happened at around 3.15pm on Tuesday October 23. Lothian and Borders Police said the 33-year-old woman was in one of the hospital's bathrooms and took her rings off to wash her hands. After leaving the bathroom she realised she had left the rings inside but found they were gone when she returned to get them. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT The woman contacted police to report the items stolen after finding that they had not been handed in to security. The force is now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The wedding ring is a platinum band with a single one-carat diamond, while the eternity ring has about 24 diamonds around the circumference. A police spokesman said: "The woman has been left devastated at the loss of her rings and is desperate to have them returned to her as soon as possible. Anyone who comes into possession of the rings is asked to hand them in to their local police station. "We would also ask that anyone who can assist with our enquiries into this theft contacts police immediately."
