Wee Man Daniel Kerr up for Bafta

01:25, Mar 7 2013

A 12-year-old actor who portrayed a young Paul Ferris in the film The Wee Man has been nominated for a Bafta.

Daniel Kerr from Glasgow is one of more than 30 nominees for this year's Bafta New Talent Awards which recognise stand-out work across several categories including acting, writing and animation.

Kerr is up against Sophie Gane for her performance in sci-fi short Aurora and George Wallace for The Happy Lands.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted by broadcaster Muriel Gray in Glasgow's Oran Mor venue on March 21.

Alan de Pellette, acting director of Bafta in Scotland, said: "The wealth of emerging talent in Scotland is outstanding and we are delighted to celebrate this with the New Talent Awards.

"It's been great to see more entries than ever this year and I would like to say a massive thanks to all of our jurors who gave up their time to consider all the submissions, and congratulate everyone who has made the shortlist."
