A new phone line is being launched in Scotland to help patients looking for advice on NHS waiting times.
Health Secretary Alex Neil said it would help to "improve patients' experience with the health service".
The new phone line will be run as a pilot project for 12 months from this summer.
The move was announced at the same time as public spending watchdog Audit Scotland warned that public trust in NHS waiting times has been put at risk by falsified figures.
Auditors found problems across the country in the way patient waiting times targets are approached by health boards, more than a year after issues were first identified in NHS Lothian.
The new advice line will be run by the health information service NHS Inform, which is part of the NHS 24 medical advice service.
Its aim is to increase transparency and improve understanding of waiting times targets amongst Scots.
Mr Neil said: "Waiting times are amongst their lowest-ever levels in Scotland and they continue to improve. Patients have an entitlement to be treated as quickly as possible, but also at a time that fits in with their lives.
"We want to make sure that patients know what they are entitled to, what they can expect and what options are available to them.
"This advice line will improve patients' experience with the health service and make sure that if they need help and support they will get it."
