River searched in teenager hunt

15:25, Feb 6 2013

Police are searching a river in the hunt for a missing teenager.

Officers were scouring Allanwater in the Bridge of Allan area as part of the search for David O'Halloran, who disappeared after a night out in Stirling last month.

The last sighting of the 18-year-old was captured on CCTV and it shows him crossing Henderson Street in Bridge of Allan at 2.19am on Friday, January 18. The footage shows him walking along the road towards the Keir roundabout.

Central Scotland Police Inspector Pat Scroggie said: "This is the first opportunity we have had to get our boat on to the river as it has been too dangerous due to water levels and the flow rate. Officers are now carrying out a surface search from Bridge of Allan to Craigforth.

"It is still too dangerous to put divers into the water but this is something we will do when the water level subsides."

Mr O'Halloran is 5ft 5in, has brown hair with blond highlights and is of slim build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a black and green checked shirt on top, black slim-fit jeans and black trainers at the time of his disappearance.

Police are keen to hear from anybody who may have been in the Bridge of Allan area around the time. Anyone with information can contact police on 01786 456 000 or details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
