Police name fishing tragedy pair

13:25, Sep 11 2012

Police have named two men who died on a fishing trip at the weekend.

David Archibald, 59, and 56-year-old Andrew Conlon from Dalkeith in Midlothian were reported missing on Sunday after failing to return from fishing at Gladhouse Reservoir in Gorebridge.

The bodies of the two friends were recovered from the waters of the reservoir on Monday morning following a police and RAF helicopter search.

Inspector Neil Simpson of Lothian and Borders Police said officers were trying to establish what happened to the men but ruled out anything suspicious.

He said: "They had been taking part in what was a routine activity for them when something happened which resulted in them losing their lives.

"Early indications are that this was a tragic accident.

"Our thoughts are with the two families and we have officers working with them to provide support. They are being kept fully informed."
