Mother issues appeal to missing son

13:25, Feb 21 2013

A mother "extremely worried" about her missing son has made a desperate plea for information to help find him a week after he was last seen on Valentine's Day.

Sandra Ramsay, 56, made a statement at Maryhill police office in Glasgow as officers continue to search for Ross, 32.

She pleaded with her son to make contact and let his family know he is safe.

Mrs Ramsay said: "Ross, we love you very much and miss you dearly. Your family and friends want you home. We understand that if you don`t feel that you are ready to do so, please just let us know that you are safe."

Mrs Ramsay's younger son Ryan, 19, joined his mother to send a message to his brother.

He added: "Ross, you know that we will always be here to help and support you, and we love you and miss you."

Mr Ramsay is considered to be a vulnerable person who requires daily medication for depression and anxiety. He is known not to have this medication with him, according police.

Mrs Ramsay also appealed for anyone who has seen her son or has information about where he is to let the police know. Mr Ramsay had spent the evening of February 14 drinking on his own in the Ben Nevis pub on Argyll Street in Glasgow, where he was a regular customer and known to staff. He was last seen leaving the Gala Casino on Sauchiehall Street at about midnight. Mr Ramsay is not thought to have gambled in the casino but handed his wallet and phone to reception staff and left the premises.

The duty manager of the casino then called Strathclyde Police to report this to officers. Chief Inspector Ann Hughes, area commander at Maryhill, said: "Ross wasn`t actually in the casino. He attended the casino, handed over some of his property and then left. He walked in and left his wallet and his mobile phone."

Police have reviewed CCTV footage and discovered that Mr Ramsay headed west towards Charing Cross after leaving the casino and passed three people on Newton Street shortly after midnight in the early hours of February 15.
