Man trapped after car crash on A198

02:25, Mar 16 2013

A man has been taken to hospital after the car he was driving crashed, the fire service said.

Emergency services including fire and ambulance crews as well as a special response medial team were called to the A198, a mile east of North Berwick in East Lothian at 9.40pm on Friday.

The man, in his 20s, was "badly trapped" in the vehicle.

Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release him and assisted the medical team from Medic 1 and paramedics as they treated him at the scene.

"An adult male was badly trapped and firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to free the man. Crews also worked closely with Medic 1," said a spokeswoman for the fire service.

The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious leg injuries, the ambulance service said.

There was only one vehicle reported to be involved and no other casualties.
