Man found dead on country road

18:25, Sep 27 2012

The death of a man who was found on a country road is being treated as unexplained, police have said.

The body of the 46-year-old was discovered at about 10.45am on Thursday on the Strachur to Glenbranter Road, near Dunoon, Argyll.

He was last seen alive at a nearby petrol station in Strachur only 15 minutes before his body was discovered.

He is described as being about 5ft 8ins, stocky and with black and grey hair and beard. He was wearing a grey and green jacket and was carrying a white carrier bag, said Strathclyde Police.

The man, who is from Poland, is believed to have only arrived in the area a few days ago.

Detective Inspector Douglas Wilson, of Dunoon CID, said: "A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death and we are treating it as unexplained at this time.

"We are trying to piece together this man's movements prior to his death and would like to speak to anyone who has seen him since leaving the petrol station around 10.30 this morning."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dunoon CID on 01369 763000.
