Body found in missing woman hunt

10:25, Mar 15 2013

Police searching for a missing grandmother say they have found a body.

Linda MacDougall, 56, was last seen at her home in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, on the morning of February 27.

Mrs MacDougall missed Mother's Day with her son Scott, 30, and daughter Laura, 28. The missing woman is also grandmother to Cara and Corey, both aged three.

Officers searching for her discovered a body on Thursday afternoon near Orchard Farm, Alloa. A Central Scotland Police spokesman said formal identification needs to take place but Mrs MacDougall's family have been kept informed.

Earlier this week her husband Willie, 56, made an emotional appeal for any information on her whereabouts.

He said: "You are the loving and caring centre of the family.

"Mother's Day was totally incomplete with you not being there."

Mrs MacDougall is described as around 5ft tall with greying blonde hair and glasses.

She was last seen wearing a three-quarter length shiny black padded jacket and jeans.
