Woman killed by reversing lorry

12:25, Jan 21 2012

A woman has died after being hit by a lorry as it reversed into a scrap metal yard, police said.

Helen Morton, 44, from Cadder in East Dunbartonshire, was seriously injured when she was hit by the Ford Transit flatbed lorry on Lochburn Road in Maryhill, Glasgow, at around 3.45pm on Friday.

She was taken by ambulance to the city's Western Infirmary but died a short time later.

Sergeant Willie Graham, from Strathclyde Police's road policing unit in Kirkintilloch, said: "Lochburn Road can be busy with commercial traffic and so I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the incident to contact police at Kirkintilloch Police Office on 0141 532 4400."
