Pensioner, 87, robbed in her home

An 87-year-old woman has been assaulted and robbed in a "shocking" crime in her own home, police said. A man forced his way into the pensioner's house in New Edinburgh Road, Uddingston, Lanarkshire, after posing as a workman in the area. He then assaulted her, demanded money and fled with a three-figure sum of cash and other personal belongings.
