Shieldhill is a castle style house, parts of which date back to 1199. Steeped in history and atmosphere, the house is surrounded by 6 Acres of beautiful Wooded Parkland.
The decor is designed to compliment the historic character of the house, yet provides the usual modern comforts found in a top class hotel.
The individually designed rooms - some with 4 posters and double jacuzzi - provide superb views of the Clyde Valley and Tinto Hill.
The Chancellor Restaurant dates from the Sixteenth Century and is a room full of character, with carved high ceilings and large windows with panoramic views of the Lanarkshire countryside. The menu uses fresh ingredients, including carefully selected fish, meat, game and vegetables. The restaurant has won a two Rosette distinction from the AA for its impressive menu.
The Bistro Bar was formally a gun room and armoury.
It is now an inviting cosy room ideal for snacks and pre-dinner drinks.
Also on the ground floor is the Oak Room, which dates from the late Sixteenth Century and still contains its original oak panelling and bay windows facing over the open grassland.
