JOHN Brown this week blasted his players and claimed a shaky defence is the reason Clyde are in danger of being relegated.
The fiery manager was left bitterly disappointed after the Lanarkshire outfit’s 4-1 thrashing by Scottish Cup hopefuls Queen of the South.
And as The Reformer went to press the former Rangers player was tightening his squad for a trip to St Johnstone on Tuesday night and then to Dundee on Saturday.
He said this week: “I think Queen of the South are a handful for any back four. But our shaky defence is the reason why we are in this dangerous position in the league."
And on the club’s website www.clydefc.co.uk Brown also fumed: “The players know that Saturday was an unacceptable performance and we need to quickly make amends.
“I thought we started quite well but again our defending was very poor and we lost some bad goals."
He continued: "We need to start getting results now, the games are running out and single points aren't good enough. The players may be fearful about our league position but they need to focus, concentrate and ultimately show what they are capable of in this division."
Meanwhile, defender Craig McKeown is unlikely to feature for Clyde after being ruled out for the remainder of this season with a persistent groin injury.
McKeown, 23, will join Dundee in the summer, on a pre- contract agreement.
In a statement, Bully Wee manager John Brown said: "Craig has been told to rest for at least two weeks, and it looks like his season is over.
"What we have in defence now has to see us through to the end of the season."
Elsewhere, Clyde have signed Hearts forward Marc McCusker on loan until the end of the season.
McCusker, 19, has been on loan to Third Division Stranraer from the Edinburgh outfit this season but has now joined The Bully Wee.
Clyde manager John Brown has been busy adding to his squad this month with former Rangers midfielder and Brown’s team mate Jorg Albertz agreeing terms and ex-St Johnstone striker Gary McSwegan also signing for the Cumbernauld outfit.
