The Perfect Italian

By Steven McCombe

Nowadays there are so many multi-national restaurants out there and increasingly the locally and family-run restaurants suffer and go out of business because they just can't compete with the spending might of the larger companies.

This is the same for many businesses. Self-employed local retailers, shop owners and even farmers all suffer.

But it's reassuring to know that locally-run businesses can still survive and prosper in the face of multi-national pressure.

For the public there's still a romantic appeal in eating at a good local restaurant. But the appeal is only there if the restaurant is in fact good.

The key to their success is nice food, good prices, good values and quality service.

And that's three of the main reasons why Di Maggios has continued to grow and become one of the finest locally-run Italian restaurant chains in the West coast of Scotland.

The brainchild of Mario Gizzi and Joe Conetta, Di Maggios was born at a corner of Shawlands Cross, on the southside of Glasgow in 1983.
