I've seen many a new bar in my time but never have I seen a transformation
quite like this one.
Locomotiv, formerly Fiddler's Court in Glasgow's Merchant City, is now one of
the most beautiful style bars around.
Yes, I know, a style bar, is a style bar, is a style bar. But honestly, trust
me on this one.
Where there used to be a bit of a dingy old joint that continually got its
windows panned in after football matches, and was full of grungy types, there
now stands a bar worthy of a Sex And The City location.
You can just imagine
Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte sitting discussing the latest
developments in their sex lives in one of the black and white booths in
Locomtiv. It's the perfect location for a girlie chat over a Cosmopolitan or a
Bellini.
The night I was in, however, I was with my brother, who was visiting from
abroad, two of my girlie mates, and one male friend.
Safe to say that our conversation didn't really cover our sex lives. As you
might imagine, my brother and I are more comfortable talking about football than
the intimacies of our relationships.
And we weren't drinking Bellinis or Cosmopolitans. It was white wine for the
ladies, and beer for the boys. How non-New York.
However, the setting was such that you could almost imagine seeing Mr Big
coming through the door if you tried hard enough.
