SCOTLAND’S biggest bingo hall is set to be built on a disused retail park in Coatbridge. And the owners say that the £6 million Club 3000 - set to open in the autumn in Locks Street Retail Park - will bring a taste of Las Vegas to Monklands. Owner Brian Fraser said: “It is not just a normal bingo hall, it is awesome. “It is going to be the most luxurious, futuristic and biggest in Scotland. “It will be different as it is an independent company, not corporate, it makes it unique. “Making clubs as glitzy as Vegas casinos is the company’s speciality and Coatbridge will be extra special, offering every conceivable facility.” Work has recently started on the “state of the art” £6 million bingo super club at the Locks Street Retail Park, and will create 60 new permanent jobs. The new bingo hall, called ‘Club 3000’, will be operated by Fraser Capital Management Ltd, owned by Brian Fraser who learned his craft in the bingo clubs of Wishaw and Dundee. After building his Riva clubs chain all over Britain, he sold the company and is now returning to Scotland with the aim of taking bingo to a new level. Mr Fraser continued: “I am opening a rented shop in Coatbridge for six months, where people can walk in and sign-up for the club and get information. “There will certainly be at least 60 jobs at the beginning, hopefully more than that. “It has taken eight months of planning, and work finally started three weeks ago at Locks Street Retail Park. “The whole park is being refurbished; car park, landscapes and roundabouts. “I am looking forward to it, people love bingo, there will be nothing like it - it is the equivalent to a five-star hotel. ”There will be a restaurant and bars and it will be open afternoon and evening seven days a week. “We are offering 60 new jobs giving people opportunities in the area, and we start a recruitment drive in September.” Peter Sullivan, Councillor for North Cairnhill and Coatdyke, is also pleased with the new development in the town. He said: “With the present climate with bingo halls, I am pleasantly surprised that they have developed in the area and brought 60 new jobs. “I hope it is successful. It means a retail area which has been lying relatively derelict for a substantial time will hopefully boost the area and attract people. “In regard to Coatdyke, hopefully it will be a start to further developments in the future.” |
