MONKLANDS A&E has been on life-support for the past year - but today the Advertiser can reveal that the fight to save it has finally been won. Health Minister Nicola Sturgeon will stand up in the Scottish Parliament this afternoon (Wednesday) and announce the news that every one of our readers has been waiting for. She will say that the new SNP government will reverse the Labour decision to close our A&E unit and NHS Lanarkshire will be ordered to keep the vital service open. This is not only a victory for the Advertiser’s award-winning campaigning but for every one of our readers who depend on our local accident and emergency department. This week we can all celebrate together as this vital service will be staying where it belongs - at the very heart of our community. |
